A King County Superior Court judge granted Washington's request for a preliminary injunction against Kalshi on 20 July 2026. The attorney general announced the development on 21 July. The order's detailed terms were still to follow.
The word "preliminary" matters. Such an order is not a final determination of every issue in the case, and this brief should not be read as one.
The dispute concerned prediction-market contracts and Washington law. It did not establish a new nationwide rule for live dealer casinos. Our earlier report overstated the reach of regulatory stories and mixed them with unsupported catalogue-based rankings. Those claims have been removed.
